ENDOSCOPY

Our endoscopy center is equipped to perform both colonoscopy and upper endoscopy or EGD.  Our endoscopists include general surgeons, colorectal surgeons, and a gastroenterologist.

EGD: Also known as upper endoscopy, this is a diagnostic test to identify abnormalities of the esophagus, stomach, and part of the small intestine known as the duodenum.  The endoscopist is able to perform biopsies for further study if the situation warrants.

Colonoscopy:  This is the best diagnostic test for colon cancer.  Colon cancer almost always begins as a polyp.  Colonoscopy identifies polyps and allows their removal, which almost always prevents colon cancer.
